One of the most anticipated MMORPGs, Aion: The Tower of Eternity from NCsoft, has already shown signs of being a hit in the first days after the open beta test started. Aion is set to launch in Korea this year and will also be released in China, the USA, Europe, and Japan in 2009.
After the launch of the OB beta in Korea, the number of simultaneous connections jumped to 170,000 players, making it the most popular beta test in Korea's online gaming history. According to official data from NCsoft, over 11,000 players logged into the game within 2 minutes of the OB beta server launch. In less than an hour, that number rose to 40,000. Currently, connections have soared to over 170,000.
To address the unprecedented demand from players, NCsoft rapidly increased the number of servers to 25 within the first few hours of the OB beta. Even with the increase in servers, tens of thousands were waiting in line to get into the game. On the second day of the OB beta, the game reached the top of the chart on the Korean Gametrics website, which rates games playable from PC Cafes.
Aion is an epic fantasy MMO that combines eastern-style graphics and design with western action-oriented gameplay. In Aion, players must fight to save a beautiful, vibrant world shattered by a divine war; in their adventures, players will draw closer to their celestial nature and gain the ability to fly. Flight adds fun and a new strategic dimension to Aion's gameplay, integrated into combat, exploration, looting, etc.
"The effect we see in Korea is extremely satisfying," said David Reid, president of NCsoft West in Seattle. "Our Aion player community in North America and Europe is growing rapidly. We have aggressive plans for launching Aion in the West in 2009."

Beautiful and Detailed Graphics
The developers have enhanced the engine used in Far Cry; Aion: Tower of Eternity is the most beautiful MMORPG that has ever existed. The stunning level of detail in characters and environments will fully immerse you in the world of AION.
There are 3 opposing races in the game. Elyos (light), Asmodians (darkness), and Balaur (not accessible to players and controlled by NPCs, sometimes under the control of GMs).
Elyos and Asmodians cannot interact with each other in any way. Messages to each other are displayed in an encrypted form.
Particularly noteworthy is the character creation process. Close-up characters will indeed be unique. A large number of hairstyles available. Fully customizable appearance.
There is an option to change hair, skin, lip, and eye colors.
Several customization parameters for eyes, eyebrows, lips, etc. (around 32 sliders for facial customization).
There are also many sliders for body customization (neck, chest, torso, waist, stomach, etc.).
Ability to change armor colors.
The classes for both races are the same. But there are differences in skills.
At the start, a direction is chosen, a total of 4. Upon reaching a certain level, one of 2 specific classes is chosen already.
