BioShock Infinite is a multiplatform computer game in the first-person shooter genre with RPG elements, developed by Irrational Games and released by 2K Games on March 26, 2013. The publisher in Russia is "1C-SoftClub." BioShock Infinite is the third game in the BioShock series.
The action of BioShock Infinite takes place in the skies of the city of Columbia. In the early 20th century, the United States built a unique flying city that became a symbol of the nation's power. However, the triumph was short-lived. For unknown reasons, Columbia vanished from people's sight, and no one was able to find it despite extensive searches. Only a few had information on Columbia's whereabouts, and they hinted to Dewitt (the protagonist of BioShock Infinite) where to look for the city and how to get there.
The main character of BioShock Infinite is a former detective from the famous Pinkerton agency who has found himself in a dire situation related to a large debt. To improve his financial situation, he flies to the airborne city, where he must find a girl named Elizabeth. If Dewitt can find Elizabeth and then bring her down to the mortal ground, he will be able to clear his debts and live his former life. If he fails, he will undoubtedly perish below, either being stabbed or shot by a treacherous bullet.
Columbia seems like a paradise at first glance, but that is just a façade. Racism thrives in the airborne city, and its inhabitants worship the founder of Columbia, Comstock, treating him almost like a god, while Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin are regarded as true prophets. Moreover, the city is home to separatists from the mysterious Vox Populi group, who are not averse to killing people and instigating acts of terror. In simpler terms, the atmosphere is far from rosy. Sensing that he is about to face various troubles, Dewitt nonetheless sets out to find Elizabeth – a girl with unique powers. He has no choice, as she is his ticket to the land where angry creditors are waiting for him.
BioShock Infinite differs from the first two games in the series by its open spaces and abundance of sunlight. Gloomy, confined spaces also occur, but they are not as prevalent. Movement between the flying platforms (the city is divided into separate islands) is mainly facilitated by so-called Sky-Lines – aerial railroads stretched above Columbia. The number of enemies has increased, and almost all are equipped with firearms. As in the previous BioShock installments, in BioShock Infinite, players can uncover story details through special audio recording devices – in BioShock Infinite, they are called Voxephones.
Instead of active plasmids, BioShock Infinite introduced Vigors – special combat abilities that Dewitt acquires during his journey. Vigors offer both primary and secondary combat functionality, and special modifiers can be purchased for them. The EVA serum has been replaced by Salt. Additionally, an armor meter has been added. Passive tonics have disappeared, but Gears have been introduced. They, like tonics in the previous games, provide various passive abilities.
