Might & Magic Heroes VII is a computer game in the turn-based strategy genre with role-playing elements, developed by the German studio Limbic Entertainment. The project is published by Ubisoft Entertainment.
A familiar world of Ashan. Year 853 of the Seventh Dragon. Ten years have passed since the death of the Empress and the beginning of the fourth Eclipse, but the brutal civil war shows no signs of easing. Seeing this situation, Duke Ivan, the last of the Griffin line, decides to bury the hatchet and reconcile the warring sides. He summons a secret council, inviting six prominent representatives of the opposing factions. Each tells the story of their people, recounting the deeds of ancient heroes, and each provides the Duke with food for thought. As a result, Ivan gains information that allows him to understand how to access the throne and stop the bloodshed. Whether he succeeds or not will be revealed to the player after completing six separate scenarios - one for each advisor.
The developers of Might & Magic Heroes VII did not aim to reinvent or shake up the foundations of the famous series. The game offers classic turn-based gameplay with familiar mechanics. Nevertheless, some changes and innovations were inevitable.
Each city in HoMM VI features a large screen, which distinguishes the seventh part from the sixth, where this screen was a tiny picture. The 2D graphics have returned, along with pleasant animations reminiscent of 'the good old days'.
In the sixth part of HoMM, there were four types of resources. Now, their assortment has increased back to seven.
The seventh part has revived the long-forgotten caravans and war machines, including the catapult and ballista.
The skills system has changed - it now resembles that of HoMM V closely.
Interactive elements have found their way onto the strategic map. For example, an avalanche can descend from the snowy slopes, blocking the hero's path.
The tactical map has seen an increase in objects and obstacles.
