[Traps] Lava Eraser =)
Hello, dear people. It's me.
It's no secret that since version 1.1, my favorite pastime has been traps and attempts to eliminate a certain mysterious friend. The friend became more and more cunning, I became cleverer, and the traps became more and more brutal.
[cut]
I started as many do, with simple, as two plus two, traps:
Wolf pit |||| Wolf pit with lava
But it's not enough! I wanted glory, joy, malicious laughter with a pinky raised to the corner of my mouth...
*Once, while encountering a developer trap in the cave in the form of a boulder falling on my head, I became intrigued by this phenomenon and started experimenting in earnest.*
In the end, I created three types of "Something-falls-from-above" traps:
1. A regular trap in which the subject steps on a pressure plate and a boulder falls from above (two, three, ..., n)
2. A modification of the first (1) trap that turns it into a solid line of defense.
Unfortunately, such traps only catch newbies (from zero to one time) and idiots (a recorded case - 3 times)
And that is the main "But". The trap does not work well when passively defended, but if you interfere with the enemy approaching you with ranged weapons (bows, boomerangs, Magic, etc.), then everything becomes much more interesting.
And finally, what I came to after a few battles:
3. Replace the boulder with a more deadly thing: in this case, lava (but options are possible)
The principle of operation is simple and somewhat analogous to the "boulder trap" ...
Well, since we understand the principle correctly, we need to complicate the trap so that someone eventually gets caught (besides that infamous idiot and the creator testing their trap for functionality).
A reservoir of lava suspended in the air and a pressure plate won’t trouble anyone but the blind, so let's go underground.
What do we need?
A pile of stone that matches the background of the active stone, a source of lava (with a bucket or valve), wires, pressure plates... Is that all?
Stage one: Local meme of the Terraria blog
Let's go underground, dig a tunnel (don't forget to clean up after yourself).
We start building... but remember we forgot the lava. We take a bucket and go for some lava.
We line the reservoir with stone, and the bottom with active stone. We place the lava and see that trouble doesn’t come alone.
Not noticing the lava is quite difficult... For us, some paths are possible:
1. Leave everything as it is (for idiots)
2. Camouflage (for us)
3. Make it even more cunning (later)
So, we need a disguise... What should we do? (Involuntarily reminding me of a light set of sounds to summon a bald dude in a white t-shirt and pants)
One of the simplest options:
We go to the coveted chest, take the iron from there, and make an "exhaust" valve. (the sharpest already guessed what price, but I continue)
We go back, remove the lava, set the valve, and voila - now the enemy will never guess that the button activates not a boulder... Remove the lava reservoir behind the "screen"... and yes, we need an "inlet" valve. Connect, synchronize... and remember that we don’t have a pressure plate... We go for the plate, place it, test the trap... and, oh god:
it broke =(
Well, beta testing is still beta testing, we fix the mistakes.
And, hop-hey-hollalay, we got a beta version of the trap:
But, oh my God, it can be escaped from, just as I did... What to do... WHAT TO DO?!?!
So, we calm down, assign the product "not finished" - we continue working:
So, we need a clever device!
We remove the connection to the lava to be on the safe side and proceed to landscape design:
As you can see, despite the disguise, there is some inconsistency.
We fix it with a clever disguise, light, and chipped plaster. We finish the small flaws, redo some things altogether:
We arrange the camouflage household, synchronize the activation, rub our hands together, connect the wires, and prepare for the test.
Done. We simulate hostile intentions.
Yes, I’m alive! Yes, I flinched, and as soon as I activated it, I immediately threw the hook up. I had 130 health points left. For absolute victory, we just need to ensure that lava fills the room as quickly and completely as possible:
1. 2 faucets
2. A smaller room
etc.
The most important thing is that the reservoir is larger, but nevertheless, thanks only to physics, the enemy loses ~200 hp guaranteed, and the remaining ones are lost just because... they panicked =)
The trap is tentatively called "Lava Eraser" (c) FOSTER_ok all rights reserved
Yes, and finally, for you to understand "why this idiot does not assume that someone might use a pickaxe or drill to escape..."
A set of simple rules from FOSTER_ok for playing with friends:
1. (most important) Before starting, both parties (defense and attack) remove all tools from their chests:
a) pickaxes, axes, hammers (and their mechanical types)
b) any items that can see the wires
2. (most important) Forbidden:
a) Star cannon (other weapons are at the discretion of the players)
b) Any flying and hooking devices
a) a regular hook may be allowed by agreement.
b) various devices for creating temporary or permanent blocks (ice staff, etc.)
c) having more than 1 stack of ammo.
d) more than 1 type of ammo.
3. The defending side is subject to:
a) prohibition on more than one stash with explosives
b) any trap must be tested for the possibility of escaping from it within 3-4 seconds, with a chance to rest before the next trap (Does not apply to arrow shooters)
c) The number of arrow shooters, pressure plates, etc. can be agreed upon in advance
d) There must be more than one exit to the heart of the citadel
4. The attacking side is subject to:
a) no more than 1 dynamite, or 3 bombs, or an unlimited number of grenades
b) The game is played until 2 deaths of the attacker or capturing the angel statue from the "red zone" by the attacker.
5. The rules do not require strict adherence and can be modified at the desire of both sides.
Well, as you can see, the condition "the possibility of escape" is not satisfied, so in the original game, I had to remove walls (though the option of diving into the lava was considered and may be used).
I have also tested:
*Flooding (Walls can be left then without any problems, but causing any harm is hard)
*Falling from above by some monster (it would be fun with lighting monsters, but still...)
*A hatch in the floor (also a good option)
