Anders is a charming revolutionary. A mage who plays a significant role in the game's storyline. However, to start discussing Anders in the second part of the game, it's worth briefly mentioning his role in Awakening.
We meet Anders right at the beginning of the game during an attempt to reclaim the Tower of Vigilance. The Warden can offer the mage to join him and then demand the Right of Summoning to protect Anders from the Templars. This is how Anders becomes a Grey Warden.
The charm itself.
Epilogue:
- If the Tower of Vigilance is not defended, Anders will be greeted as a hero by a few survivors. He receives an invitation to participate in a drinking contest and loses.
- Anders will remain with the Grey Wardens to train the next generation of mages. When he is called to the Circle of Mages to give a lecture on the Architect, to the horror of the Templars, he tells the Commander of the Grey Wardens that his service in the Order is over. However, a few months later, he returns.
- If Anders' quest is not completed, he is captured again when he leaves the Wardens. With his talisman, he could not hide from the Templars. After two failed escape attempts, he disappears for a third and final time.
- If the Tower is not defended and the walls are insufficiently fortified, Anders is found dead, with an arrow in his neck, surrounded by a hundred dead darkspawn, afflicted by magic.
- When he leaves the Wardens, the Church declares him a renegade but fails to capture him. He was last seen on a pirate ship with some woman. It’s quite possible that it was Isabella.
Sir Lancelap.
All attention is on the kitten.
This kitten is a gift from the Warden to Anders. It becomes his loyal furry companion.
Even if you haven’t played Awakening, Anders talks about his kitten and how much he misses it. He mentions that the Wardens forced him to give the kitten to a friend in Amaranthine because it made him “too soft.”
Dragon Age II
Despite the different endings of Awakening, Anders leaves the Wardens and lives in Kirkwall, where he provides medical assistance to refugees from Ferelden. Anders is a key character in the game. He cannot be missed. He has maps of the Deep Roads that Hawke needs for an expedition. Varric tells the story of the Grey Warden in a personal conversation with Hawke. After a short search, we find Anders in the Cloister. He agrees to help Hawke in exchange for a favor. Specifically, Hawke must help him save his friend, Karl, from the Templars. But when the group arrives at the Church, it turns out that Karl has already been subdued. Anders goes into a rage, and the spirit of Justice bursts forth.
Oh, that fiery gaze!
The spirit of Justice is the spirit we met in Awakening. Anders agreed to become its vessel so that they could together fight against the oppression of mages. But he was mistaken. His hatred for the Templars was so strong that it turned the once-kind spirit into a spirit of Vengeance. Now Anders must make huge physical and mental efforts to control the spirit.
If you expect Anders to still be the tireless whimsical renegade from the first part, you'll be disappointed. Anders has become a different person. His obsession with the spirit of vengeance has led him to hate himself, and his sense of humor has noticeably diminished. He has devoted himself to helping refugees from Ferelden and liberating oppressed mages. His dedication to the latter is striking, considering how reluctant he was to do so in Awakening. His hatred of Templars is expressed so vividly due to his obsession with the spirit of Vengeance that he can calmly kill a compassionate Templar just to save renegades. Despite fighting for mages' rights, he expresses disgust for blood mages and those mages who make deals with demons for freedom. Although in some cases, he sympathizes with those who have gone that far. His aversion to blood mages leads to quite interesting conversations with Merrill, who is a blood mage.
If Hawke saves Fen'Harel from the Circle and sends him to the Dalish, Anders can join you in the quest
