All About the Game Travian (travian) Part 1
Since I am (Snapp) the top player by statistics on this site in the game Travian, I decided to become an ambassador and write about what kind of game this is in more detail.
Travian is the best multiplayer online strategy game. A simple proof of this is that the game is translated into the languages of 50 countries, and accordingly, each country has from 1 to 18 servers, as well as 9 international servers on s*.travian.com (90,000 players just on the Russian server).
Travian is a vast world full of battles and political intrigues. The main feature of the game is its finality, meaning the game lasts from a year to a couple of months depending on the server. In the end, the Natars break through into the world and the construction of the World Wonder begins; the alliance that first builds the wonder to level 100 wins. Personally, for me, this is the least interesting moment in the game, but everything that precedes it is truly captivating (all the unknown terms like Natars and Wonder of the World level 100 will be explained later on).
So what is Travian? It is a browser strategy game where the player initially manages a village and then an entire empire. There are three nations to choose from: Romans, Gauls, and Germans; each has its own advantages and disadvantages. There is a vast array of different troops and buildings. Another positive aspect of the game can be considered the ability to capture enemy villages and TOTAL (complete elimination from the game) destruction of the enemy. ))
Let's start in order:
In the game, as in all strategies, there are resources that we need for building (buildings/people) or developing skills. There are 4 types: wood, clay, iron, and grain. Grain is a special category — it is needed to feed the army and the village population.
Immediately after registering as a new player, you will land on the page of your village. The village is divided into two areas. In the outer area, farms, mines, and lumber mills are built. In the inner area - buildings of economic and military infrastructure. Depending on the level of development of the enterprise (building), it can produce different amounts of those or other resources: for example, a level zero farm produces 2 units of grain per hour, while a level 10 farm produces 200 per hour.
- The inner part of the village is also called the center. It can be surrounded by a protective wall. There is the main building of the village - a house where the builders live. With the development of the main building, the construction time of buildings decreases. The center also contains a granary and warehouse, designed for storing resources, a barracks - for producing units, and a marketplace, allowing to trade resources with neighbors. A hideout allows you to hide a certain amount of resources from attackers.
There are a total of four nations in the game.
Romans - have the advantage of development speed due to the ability to upgrade resource production and buildings simultaneously. They are well balanced in attack and defense, having a strong defensive bonus when defending a village due to the city wall. However, the cost of troops is higher than that of other nations, and the construction time is longer.
Gauls - the most peaceful nation, have bonuses in defense in the form of a trapper who surrounds the village with a network of traps for enemy troops, and double storage capacity in their hideouts. However, while playing aggressively, they can achieve success. In general, Gauls are the golden mean in the game. They have the fastest troops and traders. They are easy to start playing with and easy to defend. For a beginner, Gauls are the ideal nation.
Germans - the most aggressive nation, possessing very cheap warriors. They have the advantage in raids; during their attacks, the opponent's hideouts are effective only two-thirds of the time.
Natars - an ancient nation that was thought to be extinct! Only in their villages can the World Wonder be built, but knowledge of the famous Wonders of the World was taken to the grave by their ancestors. At the moment when people had lost all hope, fate pointed them in the direction of the ancient tribe of Natars. Each surviving tribe was able to save a construction plan, miraculously preserved on the ruins of past structures. The Natars will defend their villages to the last drop of blood, for only those who can capture their villages are strong enough to erect a new Wonder of the World. Will the people of the second age be able to raise the Wonder of the World to its former glory? Only the strongest will be remembered by the people of the third age, telling glorious tales of the heroes of the previous age...
From my own experience, I will say that I initially focused on an aggressive play style, starting with Gauls, as it was said to be the most optimal nation. By the end of the game, I was disappointed in their strength, as this nation is often used to create defense (defensive troops). Then in the next round, my eyes fell on the Romans because their troops are the strongest, but it turned out they are very expensive and you cannot build many of them. In the third round, I played as the Germans, and that is how I felt the full force and might of this nation. In the game, there is a concept called 'farming,' attacking an enemy village with the aim of robbing it; the Germans are perfect for this. For me, farming was the main source of income (I will write more about this later).
P.S. This is the first part of the article; when I sat down to write it, I thought I would describe everything at once, but I realized along the way that there are indeed many aspects to describe for everyone to understand.
