Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is an action-adventure game in the third person. The main features of the local gameplay are parkour, "hiding" in crowds, silent assassinations, and spectacular hand-to-hand combat. The combat system has been somewhat improved compared to previous entries, and for the first time in the series, a multiplayer mode has been included in the game.
The game's storyline unfolds in the Eternal City (Rome), which turned into ruins during the reign of the Borgia clan, when the Templars plundered the nation, concentrating all wealth around the Vatican. You must destroy all the Borgia towers to free Rome from the influence of their family. Completing this mission opens up new opportunities for the player.
Rome is the largest city in the history of the Assassin's Creed series. It is divided into five areas: Vatican, city center, Tiber, Old town, and suburbs. Unlike previous games, travelling from city to city is not required, as all action takes place within one city. Instead, the city's tunnel system allows the player to easily navigate different sectors of the city. Players can explore all of Rome, as well as parts of Navarre (Spain) and Monteriggioni.
In Brotherhood, the developers also introduced a new management system: now the player can hire new recruits to eliminate one of the 15 Borgia towers located around Rome. The main task is to save the city's inhabitants from the terrorizing guards. Hired team members can be sent on missions across Europe or summoned to assist during missions. By completing tasks, assassins gain experience. The player can also change their appearance, skills, and weapon proficiency using points earned in battles.
Additionally, in Brotherhood, you can dedicate yourself to inventions. For example, create Leonardo da Vinci's parachute, which can be used for jumps from tall buildings. Or invent poisoned arrows, a bow, quick-acting poison, or train characters to hold and throw heavier weapons.
