Diablo III is a world-famous action-RPG game. It is the third full part of the series, the fifth if you count the expansions.
As is traditional, the action of Diablo III takes place in the world of Sanctuary. The last time the world was saved was twenty years ago (as recounted in Diablo II). Since then, the surviving warriors from that battle have slightly lost their minds, and the world once again needed heroes. Since twenty years have passed, and the old heroes are not very combat-ready, the heroes in Diablo III are entirely new characters. However, the locations remain the same — for example, the same Tristram.
As for NPCs from previous games, Diablo III features only Deckard Cain, who has appeared in past installments of the game. He comes with his adopted niece, who occasionally joins the player as the storyline progresses. Speaking of the geography of Diablo III, it is worth mentioning two large continents and several small islands in the northwestern part of the world.
In terms of gameplay, Diablo III is little different from its predecessors. The changes mainly pertain to graphics and physics. In particular, Blizzard decided to incorporate its own physics engine and the ability to destroy elements of the environment into the game. The game does not require gamers to have ultra-modern hardware, and DirectX 10 is not a necessity — only an option. The graphic engine of Diablo III is also created by Blizzard, with one of the main tasks of the developers being to convey the old graphic and design style in the new game. However, the intention to teach enemies to use the three-dimensional environment — to climb up elevations, to jump over fences, etc. — somewhat contradicts the idea of "keeping everything as it was."
The multiplayer mode of Diablo III is supported by the familiar Battle.net, and many of the features of Battle.net implemented in StarCraft II are also present in Diablo III. Among other things, there is the ability to connect to cooperative games "on the fly."
