The organizers of the "IGROPROM" project presented their plans for this year
A press conference titled "IGROPROM without borders: year of the video game industry" took place at TASS, where the project organizers and representatives of the "IGROPROM" community unveiled the calendar of events for 2026.
The speakers of the event included the producer of "IGROPROM" Andrei Pushkarev, head of communications department of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives (PFCI) Olga Kudishina, Deputy General Director of the Internet Development Institute (IRI) Andrei Voronkov, General Director of the Agency for Creative Industries of Moscow (ACI) Gulnara Agamova, independent producer and game designer Vyacheslav Makarov, product manager of "Off-road Commanders" Dmitry Karasev, as well as head of the technology circles association Valeria Kiryshova.
During the meeting, the organizers announced that "IGROPROM" is now becoming more than just a festival with related competitions. It is evolving into a full-fledged ecosystem of interconnected events that will take place year-round. The 2026 program includes the following key events:
- An online competition for developers from March to May 2026;
- A digital festival on Steam featuring projects of the Russian "cultural code";
- The game developers conference (KRI), which will return after a 12-year hiatus and will take place on June 13, 2026, at RTU MIREA;
- The "OUR IGROPROM" award in summer 2026;
- A nationwide exhibition-festival that will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026, in the Moscow cluster of video games and animation.
All events of the program will be held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
"Game developers are one of the target audiences of the PFCI, and computer games and IT fall within the list of creative industries in Russia according to federal law. Since 2021, the fund has supported about 80 IT projects with a total of over 400 million rubles: computer games, applications, projects related to VR technologies, and there are examples of integrating a game character as a tour guide in museum work. The "IGROPROM" festival has received support three times, primarily as a contribution to the development of the professional community, a platform for communication, experience exchange, and defining industry development vectors," said the head of the communications department of PFCI, Olga Kudishina.
The director emphasized that digital content for a broad audience should reflect patriotic ideas and traditional spiritual and moral values, without distorting historical facts. It is important for developers to realize their responsibility and the significance of educational work, as well as to seek help from consultants when working with historical content.
The producer of "IGROPROM" Andrei Pushkarev emphasized that the project is reaching a new level: "In three years, we have grown from 3,000 visitors in 2023 to more than 12,000 in 2025. Today, we are shaping a system that unites developers, players, experts, businesses, and the government. Our goal is not just to hold events, but to create a sustainable environment for the growth and promotion of domestic gaming projects. It is especially symbolic that this year we are returning the legendary Game Developers Conference (KRI), which will become a place for professional dialogue and exchange of experience".
It was separately announced that the exhibition-festival will take place this year at the Moscow cluster of video games and animation in "Skolkovo" in partnership with the Agency for Creative Industries of Moscow (ACI).
The head of ACI, Gulnara Agamova, noted: "The Moscow cluster of video games and animation has established itself as a leading event venue for the game development industry. A number of large-scale industry events are regularly held there, including the Moscow International Week of Video Games, esports tournaments, as well as entertainment and educational "Cyber Saturdays". This September, the venue will host the exhibition-festival "IGROPROM"".
Deputy General Director of the Internet Development Institute (IRI) Andrei Voronkov stressed the importance of promoting domestic video game projects: "Video games today are a powerful media channel, reaching 81% of the population of Russia. Since 2022, IRI has supported 47 gaming projects for a total of over 4.6 billion rubles, and we see real results: the average rating of our releases in 2025 was 8.2 out of 10. In 2026, we will continue to develop targeted support — from prototypes to large-scale national projects and safe children's content. "IGROPROM" is a significant partner for us, helping to address one of the most pressing issues in the industry — effective promotion of Russian games".
More details about the program, registrations, and the schedule of events will be published on the official project website.
