Divinity II: Ego Draconis is a multi-platform RPG developed by Larian Studios, featuring a third-person perspective. The game was released in 2009 on Xbox 360 and PC, with 1C-SoftClub as the publisher in Russia. Divinity II: Ego Draconis is a sequel to Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity.
Ever since Damian was trapped in the interstice between worlds, Rivellon enjoyed peace and grace, but that was until Damian managed to break free. Burning with a thirst for vengeance, he unleashes a bloody war with the main objective of physically destroying the Chosen One who imprisoned him in a magical dungeon. However, the clashes of giant armies yielded no results for a long time, with the Chosen One remaining alive and well, which greatly irritated the antagonist. Eventually, the Chosen One was killed by traitors from the Order of the Fiery Knights, leading to the outlawing of this organization. A special Order of Hunters was even created, focusing on the destruction of the Knights. Not understanding why all the warriors of the Order had to be liquidated due to one traitor, the Knights began preparing for their last battle. They had a significant argument against the Order of Hunters - they could transform into giant flying dragons.
At the beginning of the game, the player takes on the role of a rookie from the Order of Hunters, but as the storyline progresses, they acquire the ability to transform into a flying lizard, fundamentally altering their worldview. Could it be that the Fiery Knights are indeed not guilty of the tragedy that occurred?
Divinity II: Ego Draconis closely resembles a classic RPG with genre-specific attributes: leveling, skill and ability development, completing main and side quests. The player must independently choose where to go and which tasks to pursue – no one in Ego Draconis will babysit their training. A hardcore element is present in many gameplay aspects, including battles. For instance, defeating a hefty troll with just weapons or magic will not suffice – one must devise a strategy, use potions, and utilize various artifacts. Even the most mundane fight can become a real headache for the player, let alone duels with giant beasts or dragons. However, players can ultimately become dragons, though not immediately.
Transforming into a gigantic lizard, gamers can soar across the world, fighting other dragons and destroying towers laden with ballistae and catapults. Additionally, turning into a lizard is a great way to avoid clashes with superior enemy forces, especially when encounters happen in "human mode." However, roasting ground opponents with fire will not be possible – once the player embodies a dragon, all ground foes instantly become invisible.
Although flying in dragon form is exhilarating, the on-foot portion of Divinity II: Ego Draconis boasts a variety of interesting features: an extensive skill tree, captivating quests, an engaging leveling system, and very colorful battles.
