Developer Diaries: How Mini-Games, QTEs, and Destructibility Work in 'Earth Cathedral'
Cyberia Nova studio has released a new part of the development diaries for its adventure action game 'Earth Cathedral', set to be released on November 4 on VK Play. In the video, Alexander Kashnikov, the project’s game designer, talks about enhancing the gaming experience using QTEs, mini-games, and other interaction systems.
'In 'Earth Cathedral', three mini-games are included: arm wrestling, fistfighting, and golantsy — a logic game with stones. Each has unique rules and objectives, integrated into the game's atmosphere and fitting the character's personality.
The team decided to use the familiar QTE mechanics as the most suitable way to implement many interactions in the game back in the pre-production stage. Currently, two of the mini-games (wrestling and fistfighting) and unique plot tasks that require the hero to show strength or agility are realized through timely key presses.
