Russian cover "Song of the Dragonborn"
I expected a huge number of mods to appear with the introduction of the editor. But I didn't anticipate that the fame of the Mexican Judith De los Santos, aka Malukah, who created a wonderful cover, would keep many people awake, nor did I expect such a plethora of mediocre, terrible, and completely silly "Dovahkins" to emerge!
It turned out, however, that not all of these covers are bad.
After chuckling at the boys and girls who, to the best of their limited ability, attempt to pull off what Malukah executes effortlessly, I opened another video in hopes of hearing something worthwhile... It was male polyphony, like in the game, which immediately intrigued me - the arrangement was already not in Malukah's style. And when they started singing in Russian, I was surprised once again. Pleasantly surprised, I must say. I listened once, then a second time... Wow... What more can I say, just listen for yourself :)
The comments on the video amused me ) Foreigners ask if there are myths about dragons in Russia, while our people send them to Google about Zmey Gorynych, who has "three heads and each has its own opinion" ( :D ). "Only school kids and dragons downvote" - "43 dragons don't like this video!". And of course, there was the popular meme ("I also sang in Russian, and then I got an arrow in the knee"). 55 thousand views is certainly not 5 million like Malukah's, but still...
So I went digging through the internet to find out who this wonderful person is that made a decent Russian cover.
There is a band called "Chur," which was born in Kherson (Ukraine) in 2005, playing in the Folk Metal style. We see its organizer and inspirer, Yevgeny "Chur" Kucherov, in the video. "Vocals, guitar, sopilka, drimba, keyboards, percussion, programming" - this is how his participation in the band's music is described. He was also noted for voicing the mod "DarkSaga" for [Gothic II](/games?search=Gothic II) :) and here is a link to the video, where you can listen to a quite decent final song from this mod.
So, in my opinion, it turned out to be a very decent professional cover, and the translated lyrics of the song, also made by Yevgeny Kucherov, I also like. As poetry, it doesn't look so good, but it fits the music perfectly and conveys the spirit embedded in the original song...
There is a warrior who carries the power of the ancients in his heart
Listen, the dragonborn comes
His cry, full of power, will shake the sky
Believe, the dragon slayer comes
All unclean will perish, and our enemy will fall
Prepare, the dragonborn comes
And the darkness will retreat, and the legend will rise
Know, the dragon slayer comes
That glorious day will come
The shadow of wings will fade
And the call of death will silence above
And forever your power will fall, Alduin
Dovahkin, Dovahkin
Alone before the darkness
His blood is the call,
that summoned to battle.
His shout is a hurricane,
Given by the heavens
The Dovahkin alone
Gave us our fate
Nuz aan sul, fent alok,
