"Into The Abyss" - we'll be waiting for the release
It just so happens that at every "Igromir" I found my game. At first, they drew me in visually, then, after getting to know them closely and studying the world - I fell head over heels. "Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim", "[King's Bounty](/games?search=King's Bounty): Princess in Armor", "[King's Bounty](/games?search=King's Bounty): Warrior of the North", "[Eisenwald's Legends](/games?search=Легенды Эйзенвальда)", "[Divinity: Original Sin II](/games?search=Divinity: Original Sin II)", "Niffelheim" - I got to know each of them at "Igromir".
"Igroprom" was no exception: I found my game - "Into The Abyss"! The isometric view of the game caught my attention and its similarity to "Encased" (knock on wood!). Then the mechanics and everything else intrigued me. As a result: I spent the maximum amount of time at this booth. So what does "Into The Abyss" represent? Let's get to know it better!
The game is being developed by the Moscow studio with a purely Russian name "Berezki" and represents a gloomy isometric souls-like action, set in a post-apocalyptic dieselpunk world, destroyed by mysterious meteorites and continuing to change under their influence.
Briefly about the game world: "No matter which way you look, you'll see a reminder of the monstrous catastrophe that nearly wiped out human civilization. Green forests and meadows have turned into barren wastelands, littered with craters from meteorite impacts. Rust slowly eats away at the remains of giant dreadnoughts, while garbage winds wear down the concrete walls of forts built around the Abyss.
Neither the exact time of its occurrence nor its depth is known. The Abyss is not just a crater from the largest meteorite, but a giant anomaly. It distorts the surrounding reality like a lens, leading to local disruptions of the laws of nature - phenomena, as well as mutations of flora and fauna that become increasingly grotesque as one descends into the Abyss.
However, the most terrifying thing is that the influence of the Abyss is spreading. There is no longer a place in the world where it isn't felt, which means the time of the few remaining survivors is counted. Their only hope lies with the Seekers, desperate explorers, brave heroes, and unscrupulous rogues who, for one reason or another, have dedicated their lives to finding the source of the distortions."
As seen from the intro screenshot, there are two Seekers, and you can control either of them; possibly cooperative play.
The hero lands from a crashed spaceship and starts to figure out where, exactly, he was taken and what's going on? There are no answers, but as expected, there are enemies. You can deal with them either with melee or ranged weapons: melee is always at hand, but ammo is, as usual, a problem.
The girl is armed with a two-handed glaive: more damage, but weaker defense.
The male Seeker is armed with a sword and shield: weaker damage, but can block enemy attacks.
Later, the world creators promise to arm the girl with dual blades, and her partner will be equipped with a two-handed weapon. By the way, you can't continuously swing melee weapons; your decreasing stamina won't allow it. However, there is a "backstab": if you manage to sneak up on the enemy from behind, he will be killed instantly (at least in the early stages of the game).
Still alive, but... already dead!
But that's not all the ways to deal with enemies! Smash all the crates in your path, search corpses and hidden spots: besides ammunition, you can find very interesting devices; usually, they are of double use. One describes a freezing beam (which also affects the hero!),
the second - a fire one,
the third allows you to push an enemy and drop him into the abyss. There are mines that can be set on the enemy's path, grenades, and of course, various potions - where would we be without them!
Hey boss, catch a grenade!
By the way, the found "chests" are often guarded by a disguised enemy, not weak either - how else?
Sooner or later, the hero will reach the Meteorite, where he can restore his shaken health and allocate received experience,
deciding what to increase first: strength, coordination, or stamina.
By the way, during the rest time, potions are restored, technical devices recharge, and... enemies respawn!
Oh yes, opponents! Initially, they are usually anthropomorphic: but if you carefully examine the area, you might stumble upon a monster of a different type.
Enemies are armed with melee weapons, some carry shields, some can set the hero on fire with a torch, and a few can even shoot. Consequently, each of them requires a revised battle tactic, especially - bosses. The hero will find himself in a confined space, without quick movements, dodges, and rolls, he simply won't be able to defeat the boss. (So it's worth saving the deadly technical devices found. However, axiom…)
Just dodge!
Didn’t make it...
The game features the concepts of top and bottom, perspective,
but the "screen" cannot be rotated. (Which, in my humble opinion, is good: it would greatly complicate game development and increase system requirements.) The graphics: fire looks realistic, grass sways in the wind. (I haven't seen butterflies or birds; I hope that grass and wind can be "turned off" during the game.)
All enemies (except for bosses) respawn, and the amount of experience for their repeated destruction does not decrease (cool!!!). However, for each subsequent upgrade of characteristics, more experience is required. Nothing is known about automatic weapons for now. Locked doors in fences and rooms can only be opened with a key; they can't be picked or jumped over. In the future, the creators promise to give heroes the ability to stealth.
So far, that's all I've learned about "Into The Abyss". But I will keep an eye on the news and wait for its release!
Good luck to you all!
